“Two LNP Officers Recalled Over Alleged Break-In of Rep. Yekeh Kolubah’s Vehicle”

Capitol Hill Monrovia, Liberia: The Liberia National Police (LNP) has recalled two of its officers from the police support unit assigned at the capitol building in connection with an alleged seizer and burglarizing of Representative Yekeh Kolubah's vehicle.

On Tuesday, February 18, 2024, the two PSU officers, Sergeant Sam C. F. Karbor and Chief Inspector of police Frank P. Banda were seen in a live video footage breaking into Representative Yekeh Kolubah's vehicle after he parked his car in the majority bloc speaker Richard Koon parking space.

According to the police press release, the two officers are being investigated by the LNP’s professional standards division.

Rule of Law Caucus Condemns Koon’s Actions

The Rule of Law Caucus, composed of lawmakers who support Speaker Koffa, swiftly condemned Koon’s decision to use force, describing it as a dangerous precedent for handling disputes in the House of Representatives.

Meanwhile Montserrado County District #10 Representative, Yekeh Kolubah, claims that $25,000 USD, along with 2 million LRD, his Dell laptop, and iPhone, went missing after his car was forcibly broken into on the orders of Speaker Richard Koon.

However, his vehicle was later towed from the Speaker's parking space—a move that many Liberians believed would have been more appropriate, rather than damaging the lawmaker's car.

Meanwhile, the LNP's press release mentioned that it remains committed to maintaining law and order in the country.
