Zwedru: In a vibrant display of youthful talent and journalistic prowess, Youth Media Actions have successfully conducted a regional PRESS Club exhibition involving five counties in southeast Liberia. The event, held on June 21, 2024, saw participation from Sinoe, Grand Kru, River Gee, Grand Gedeh, and Maryland counties, with Sinoe County hosting the grand occasion.

The exhibition was marked by spirited performances, investigative reports, and insightful panel discussions. The event also provided a platform for young journalists to showcase their skills in news reporting, editorial writing, and broadcasting, fostering a sense of community and encouraging the free exchange of ideas among the youth.

Sinoe County, known for its vibrant media landscape, proved to be a fitting host, with local officials and community members turning out in large numbers to support the budding journalists. The exhibition was not only a competition but also a celebration of the role of the press in promoting transparency, accountability, and social change.

Among the standout participants was Zwedru Multilateral High School from Grand Gedeh County, whose team demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication. Their comprehensive investigative report on environmental challenges in the southeast region, coupled with their compelling editorial on youth engagement in politics, earned them high praise from the judges.

At the culmination of the event, Zwedru Multilateral High School was declared the winner, earning the honor of representing the southeast region in national press club competitions. Their victory was a testament to their hard work and the support of their community and school.

Youth Media Actions' regional PRESS Club exhibition has not only highlighted the talent and potential of young journalists in southeastern Liberia but also reinforced the importance of nurturing and supporting the next generation of media professionals.

As the winners prepare to take their skills to a national stage, the southeast region can take pride in their achievements and look forward to the positive impact they will continue to make in the field of journalism.
