House’s Joint Concession Committee Summons Bea Mountain Management On Contempt Charges

Capitol Hill, Monrovia: The House of Representatives Joint Concessions Review Committee has summoned the senior managerial team of the Bea Mountain Company to appear under contempt charges.
The Committee has accused the concession company of allegedly impeding the smooth sailing of legislative functions and duties.
During a hearing, Committee Chair Representative Foday Fahnbulleh of Bong County Electoral District #7 stated that Bea Mountain was instructed to provide specific information regarding its operations within the concession area, which the company has deliberately failed to do.
The lawmaker emphasized that the committee is committed to thoroughly reviewing all commitments made by the company to ensure that the people benefit from their natural resources.
Bea Mountain had earlier requested to postpone the scheduled legislative hearing from Friday, March 28, 2025, to the first week of May 2025.
However, the request was denied, and a motion was subsequently filed to summon the senior managerial team of the company for contempt.
The committee action comes on the heels of a statement by the company’s executive director, who indicates conflicting statements regarding both the general manager and country manager being out of the country.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives, through its chief clerk, has informed the management of Bea Mountain of rescheduling the earlier meeting for April 11, 2025, for Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the same time and venue.
The reschedule is as a result of the pending National Holiday on Friday, April 11, 2025.
