Commerce Ministry To Begins A Nationwide General   Market Inspection.

Monrovia, Liberia: The Ministry of Commerce & MOCI will on Monday, February 17, commence Phase One of its General Market Inspection across Liberia. 

The nationwide inspection, to be concluded on March 28, is intended to weed out of the local market, all products that will be established to be unwholesome and hazardous. It is also aimed at ensuring that all businesses operating throughout Liberia are in compliance with the General Business Laws of the country.

The exercise is part of the Ministry’s statutory mandate and will be carried out daily, Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00PM. Business entities to be inspected during the exercise include; fresh frozen food, supermarkets, building material stores, stationery stores, beverages (drinks) rice, flour.

Others are starches, chemicals/fertilizers, electronics, automotive, second-handed products, gas stations manufacturing industries; furniture shops/stores garages, restaurants, hotels / accommodation, etc.

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry calls on all businesses falling in these indicated categories to take due note and act appropriately as it will not hesitate to apply the requisite business laws to penalize those who might not be in compliance.

As part of its commitment to ensuring that the inspection yields the expected results, and above all promote a conducive business environment for Liberia, the Inspectorate Division of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry has been instructed to exercise vigilance during the exercise.
