Liberia's anti-corruption chief praises President Boakai for suspending officials who are not in compliance with regulations

Monrovia, Liberia: The Executive Chairperson of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission, Cllr. Alexandra Zoe has praised President Joseph Boakai's recent decision to suspend non-compliant government officials who failed to declare their assets.
Cllr. Zoe described the President's action as a welcome move that reinforces the necessity for officials to adhere to the National Code of Conduct regarding asset declaration.
Recently, President Boakai suspended over 450 government officials identified by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) as non-compliant with asset declaration requirements outlined in sections 5.2 and 10.2 of the 2014 National Code of Conduct.
In an interview on local radio on Friday, February 14, 2025, Cllr. Zoe emphasized that the suspension of these non-compliant officials was an initial recommendation made by the commission to the President.
She noted that this decision reflects the Executive's strong commitment to upholding the rule of law and combating corruption.
Cllr. Zoe also addressed concerns regarding the updated list of non-compliant officials available on the LACC’s website.
She explained that some officials raising concerns about their status may have declared their assets; yet still appear on the non-compliant list due to the dissemination of a previous list.
The LACC Boss clarified that the entity is legally required to update the asset declaration list quarterly, and the most recent version of the non-compliant official list was released on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
This latest version includes the names of officials who have declared their assets, distinguishing it from prior lists.
