No Firings, Just Fixes: Presidency Slams “Cheap Lies” Over RIA Power Outage

Monrovia Liberia: Following reports of President Joseph N. Boakai’s alleged intentions to dismiss the Management of the Liberia Airport Authority due to the recent power outage at Roberts International Airport (R.I.A), an anonymous source within the Office of the President has dismissed these claims as “cheap lies.”
The source emphasized that the President is focused on assessing the issues at hand and providing long-lasting solution rather than seeking to assign blame.
“That information is the usual cheap lies and political propaganda. The issues at the airport is very critical. Our investigative team at the airport has conducted its investigation. The President is focused on assessing the situation and finding long-term solutions to safeguard the airport”, the anonymous official disclosed.
The clarity comes in the wake of criticism surrounding the power outage, which has raised concerns about the operational readiness and management of Liberia’s only international airport.
The power failure, which occurred on the evening of March 30, was initially attributed to an issue with the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) power grid. However, further investigation revealed that birds had interfered with the transformers, resulting in a temporary power loss that affected airport operations.
The anonymous official underscored that any measures taken will be based on thorough assessments and not on sensationalized rumors or misinformation.
