Liberia Signs MOU with Cybastion Institute for Data Center and Underwater Cable Expansion

New York, USA – The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Cybastion Institute of Technology to establish a Data Center and an additional underwater cable in Liberia.

This MOU signifies the beginning of technical discussions aimed at advancing Liberia's digital infrastructure under the "Digital Fast Track Program."

The program aims to enhance digital services and promote digital transformation across the country.

Speaking at the signing ceremony in New York, Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti emphasized the critical importance of the MOU for Liberia, particularly for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She highlighted that the importance of of the MOU is to secure communication as Liberia strengthens its role in global governance and multilateral peace and security structures.

As Liberia integrates into global governance, it needs to be trusted with its communication system,” Minister Nyanti said.

She further noted that Liberia is exploring this platform to ensure the security of information exchanged with other countries.

The MOU comes at a time when Liberia is focusing on e-governance and technological advancements.

Minister Nyanti assured that the country will fully explore opportunities to enhance cybersecurity and data management as part of this partnership.

Under the agreement, the Liberia Telecommunications Authority and the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will lead the implementation of key features outlined in the MOU.

Cybastion Institute of Technology, based in Washington, D.C., provides training, certifications, and diplomas through partnerships with universities across the United States.

The institute has successfully implemented cybersecurity and digital transformation projects in several African countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, Burkina Faso, Benin, Central African Republic, and Namibia.
