"Liberian College of Physicians and Surgeons Honors President Boakai, Calls for Increased Support"

Monrovia Liberia: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. was celebrated at the 8th Annual General and Scientific Meeting of the Liberia College of Physicians and Surgeons (LCPS), where he was named an Honorary Fellow. The event took place at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Oldest Congo Town.

The LCPS awarded President Boakai for his outstanding contributions to Liberia’s healthcare and his role in founding the College. During the ceremony, President Boakai expressed his appreciation to the College’s leadership, including Professor Emmanuel R. Ezeome and President James K. Mulbah.

Reflecting on the College’s origins in 2012, Boakai recalled his role in the legislative process that led to its establishment. He emphasized the need for continued investment in local medical specialists and called for a stronger focus on Liberian talent within the College.

The President committed to supporting the reclassification of specialist doctors and improving the recruitment and retention of Liberian specialists in hospitals. He also stressed the importance of building partnerships to enhance the healthcare sector.

In his closing remarks, Boakai urged collective efforts towards nation-building and pledged his continued support for the LCPS the President called on the collage

to train and retain more Liberian Specialists who are interested in Academic as the surest way to sustainability.

"I want to assure you that my government will spend more efforts to seeking partnership to improved our health sector especially in training Surgeons" he said

President Boakai also emphasized the importance of empowering the Institution with all necessary support to enable it has a sufficient impact on the health care sector.

The Liberian collage of Physicians and Surgeons was established in 2012 by an acts of the Liberian Legislature responsible to produce specialized media specialists to deliver health services efficiently in Liberia.

Meanwhile the President of the college professor John Mulbah has called for the full implementation of the reclassification act

He said, implementing this law will upgrade the salaries and benefits of medical doctor’s specifically specialized doctors.

According to professor Mulbah enforcing this mandate will empower and motivate thousands of Liberia to venture into the medical field.
