Senator Dillon Says “No-Go Zone” Should Stay Despite Motorcyclist Protest.

Monrovia Liberia: Senator Abraham Darius Dillon from Montserrado County has reaffirmed his support for the government’s “No-Go Zone” policy in central Monrovia, despite growing opposition from motorcyclists.
Speaking on state radio Super Morning Show on March 10, Dillon emphasized that the policy is important for maintaining order and discipline in the city, and that it is essential for the country’s overall governance. He encouraged Liberians to adopt a law-abiding attitude in order to build a more organized and functional nation.
Dillon fully supported the government’s decision to ban motorcyclists from the main streets of Monrovia. He argued that this regulation is necessary for ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens. The Senator highlighted that the No-Go Zone policy is part of a larger effort to establish a more structured system in Liberia, where public order is prioritized. Dillon stressed that these measures are critical for the country’s development.
While Dillon acknowledged the important role motorcyclists played in supporting him during his 2019 and 2023 senatorial campaigns, he emphasized that maintaining public order must take precedence over political interests. He openly admitted that his support for the policy could hurt his political career, but he remained firm in his belief that the No-Go Zone policy is essential for Liberia’s progress. Dillon’s position shows that the government is determined to regulate transportation in Monrovia, even if it faces resistance from motorcyclists.
