'Political Humanitarian' Finda Bundoo Rocked by Corruption Scandal

Monrovia, Liberia: The Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force (AREPT) has launched a formal investigation into Ms. Finda Bundoo, former Chief of Protocol to ex-President George Weah, over serious allegations of corruption and economic crimes.

In an official communication issued recently, the task force notified Ms. Bundoo of an ongoing probe into alleged acts of conflict of interest, theft of property, misapplication of public funds, economic sabotage, and money laundering. These allegations are reportedly linked to her involvement with Anita Group of Companies and its subsidiary, Gracious Ride.

According to documents obtained by the Task Force, Ms. Bundoo is believed to have affixed her name, signature, and official identity to corporate documents associated with the companies currently under investigation. These actions are alleged to have occurred while she was still serving in the Executive Mansion during President Weah’s administration.

The companies in question, particularly Gracious Ride, are accused of using illicit means to acquire a fleet of Suzuki vehicles that now operate as part of a transport service. The nature of these transactions, authorities allege, raises significant red flags regarding their legitimacy and financial sourcing.

The investigation falls under the mandate of Executive Order #145, a continuation of Executive Order #126, which empowers the Liberian government to trace, identify, and recover assets suspected to have been unlawfully acquired by current and former government officials.

In light of the ongoing investigation, Ms. Bundoo has been officially summoned to appear before the task force for questioning. She is expected to attend the session accompanied by legal counsel.

The task force emphasized the importance of cooperation, stating, “We anticipate your cooperation as we strive to promote transparency and integrity in the governance of the Republic of Liberia.”

Communication from  AREPT

This development comes amid a broader crackdown on alleged corruption and illicit enrichment by former government officials as part of President Joseph Boakai’s ongoing anti-graft campaign.

The outcome of the investigation into Ms. Bundoo’s involvement could have far-reaching implications, both for her personally and for other individuals tied to the former administration.

Allegations of Unauthorized Police Recruitment

Reports from May 2024 indicated that Madam Bundoo was implicated in the unauthorized recruitment of approximately 400 individuals into the Liberia National Police. These individuals were allegedly integrated without proper vetting or inclusion in the official payroll, raising concerns about procedural irregularities .

In January 2025, Madam Bundoo allegedly faced a lawsuit in the Debt Court of Montserrado County. The plaintiff, Jerome F. Walkely, claimed that she failed to pay $18,000 for campaign materials produced during the 2023 elections. The court issued a writ against her following the complaint .
