kool 91.9 FM CEO and 454 Gov’t Officials Suspended for Failing to Declare Assets

Monrovia, Liberia :The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CT.com and Ambassador at Large for Tourism Also owner of Kool 91.9 FM, Kool TV, and Knewsonline.com, as well as 454 government officials, have been suspended for failing to declare their assets.

Despite the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) offering additional time for government officials to declare their assets, over 450 of them neglected to comply with the requirement.

Today, February 12, 2025, it was announced that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has taken decisive action by suspending more than 450 government officials across multiple ministries, agencies, and commissions for failing to meet asset declaration laws.

This unprecedented action follows the President’s directive issued on November 27, 2024, which granted a 10-day grace period for officials to submit their asset declarations, as mandated by Article 2, Section 10.2(h) of the Code of Conduct. With the deadline now expired, the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) submitted a list of non-compliant officials, resulting in their immediate suspension without pay for one month, or until they fulfill the requirement.

The suspension includes high-ranking officials from various key government institutions, such as:

Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Several ambassadors-designate, including those assigned to the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Kuwait, and Ghana.

Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) – Board members.

Liberia Water & Sewer Corporation (LWSC) – Board members.

National Housing Authority (NHA) – Deputy Managing Director.

Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) – Board members.

Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) – County Superintendents, City Mayors, and District Commissioners across Liberia.

Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) – Interim Managing Director and Deputy Managing Directors.

President Boakai emphasized that asset declaration is a critical measure of transparency and accountability, not just a legal formality. “Public officials must be held to the highest ethical standards. Those who fail to comply with the law will face the consequences,” President Boakai stated.

In addition to the suspensions, all affected officials have been ordered to immediately return government assets to their compliant colleagues or designated personnel.

The administration has also signaled stricter enforcement going forward, with the President asserting that no official will be above the law in the fight against corruption.

This large-scale suspension is expected to reverberate across Liberia’s political and governance spheres. Analysts suggest that the move could bolster public confidence in the government’s anti-corruption agenda, though it may also face resistance from political allies of the suspended officials.
