“Will Boakai’s Officials Uphold His Commitment To Declare Assets?

President Boakai Enforces Strict Compliance on Asset Declarations
Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has immediately suspended all government officials who failed to declare their assets within the required timeframe.
This action is in accordance with Article 2, Section 10.2(h) of the Act to Amend Section 5.2 and Section 10.2 of the 2014 Code of Conduct. It follows a directive issued by the President on November 27, 2024, which granted a ten-day grace period for compliance.
Non-Compliant Officials Suspended Without Pay
The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has identified the officials who failed to comply. Those listed have been suspended for one month without pay or until they submit the required asset declarations.
Immediate Action for Transparency
All suspended officials must immediately turn over government assets to compliant heads of agencies or authorized personnel within their institutions. This action emphasizes the President’s commitment to integrity and transparency in the government.
A Message from President Boakai
“Asset declaration is not just a legal obligation; it is a fundamental measure to promote transparency and restore public trust in our institutions. Failure to comply with this requirement undermines our national efforts to fight corruption and ensure accountability.”
President Boakai also emphasized that the strict enforcement of legal and ethical standards will remain a top priority of his administration.
The question remains: Will all of Boakai’s officials who have yet to declare their assets comply with his directive and take the necessary action?
