Liberia's New National Development Plan Aims to Tackle Poverty and Build a Stronger Nation
Today, December 3, 2024 President Joseph Nyuma Boakai announced the official endorsement of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), Liberia’s new plan for national growth. The agenda is focused on improving the lives of all Liberians.
In a meeting with government officials, development partners, and other leaders, President Boakai explained that the ARREST Agenda will help solve Liberia’s major challenges, such as poverty, food shortages, and poor infrastructure.
Key Focus Areas of the ARREST Agenda:
1. Agribusiness: Increase food production and create jobs.
2. Roads and Infrastructure: Build better roads and improve connectivity.
3. Rule of Law and Governance: Strengthen the justice system and fight corruption.
4. Education and Human Capital: Educate and empower the youth.
5. Sanitation: Ensure clean water and better health services.
6. Tourism: Develop Liberia’s tourism industry to boost the economy.
Working Together for Liberia’s Future
President Boakai called on everyone—government, businesses, civil society, and the Liberian diaspora—to work together to make the ARREST Agenda a success. He stressed that the development of Liberia is a shared responsibility.
