   NPA Board of Directors Accesses Port of Greenville… Promises Immediate Infrastructure and Human Resource Development Reforms

Greenville, Sinoe County; 07-15-24 - A high-powered delegation of the Board of Directors, headed by Chairman Luther Tarpeh, along with top management of the National Port Authority (NPA), concluded a day-long site assessment at the Samuel A. Ross Port of Greenville.

Chairman Tarpeh and eight other board members were astonished by the dilapidated state of the port's infrastructure and promised immediate intervention.

During a reception by the port staff after touring the facility, Chairman Tarpeh expressed the board's commitment to rehabilitating the port to international standards. He emphasized the plan to promote the local market by prioritizing the purchase of renovation materials from Greenville. He also cautioned local management to ensure that all received resources are used for their intended purposes.

On behalf of NPA management, Deputy Managing Director for Operations, Hon. Emmanuel Hortons Sr., assured staff that the leadership is dedicated to bringing the port up to international standards. He promised an immediate response to the challenges highlighted by the local management.

Acting Director of the Samuel A. Ross Port of Greenville, Mr. Rupert D. Smith, appreciated the board chairman and his delegation for their visit. He praised the senior management, led by Hon. Sekou Dukuly, for their timely plan to rehabilitate the port and committed his team to executing the management’s functions effectively.

This high-level visit is part of the board’s resolution to investigate the proposed budget for renovating outstation facilities, with Greenville being a major priority.
