Minister Piah Dismisses Panoramic Justice Group’s Credibility as a U.S. Human Rights Advocate

Monrovia Liberia: Addressing the Tuesday, January 28, 2025 edition of the Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT), Minister Piah contended that the Executive Director of the purported human rights organization, Dr. Garkpe Gedepoh has no credentials in human rights advocacy.

 Minister Piah accused Dr. Gedepoh of being a known opposition figure and a fierce critic of President Joseph Boakai dating back to when he served as Vice President.

 The government’s Chief Spokesperson characterized allegations of human rights abuse by the Unity Party-led government as contained as shocking.

 Minister Piah reemphasized the government’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy for human rights abuses and remains committed to upholding the rights of all Liberians.

 It can be recalled that on January 25, 2025, social media into a frenzy when several media outlets reported on a communication from the Panoramic Justice Group through its Executive Director Garkpe Gedepoh addressed to Chris Smith, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Africa in the U. S. House of Representatives, and U. S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.

 In its communication, the group documented seventeen alleged human rights abuses by the Unity Party-led government.

 The Panoramic Justice Group called on the U.S. Government to institute immediate action by imposing the Global Magnitsky sanction on officials of the government.
