Pro-temp Slams U.S. Visa-Restriction, Reveals Plans to Seek Legal Redress

CAPITOL HILL, Monrovia: The Senate Pro-Temp Albert T. Chie has fired back at the United States government visa restriction imposed on him and two others, terming the allegations as false, misleading, untrue, and unfounded.

The U.S.-sanctioned Sen. Chie has vowed to use the legal system to clear his name from the sanction list.

"The timing of the action taken on two key Senators Chie and Nuquay is of concern; we always hear that the United States believes in a free and fair electoral process, so we are taken aback by the US VISA restriction just a few weeks from the Senate leadership election," Pro-temp Chie said.

Pro-Temp Chie pointed out that at no time he has ever taken a dime to influence other Senators to take a legislative action.

The Grand Kru County Senator believes that the U.S. has been misinformed and misguided by individuals he described as detractors.

On Monday, December 11, 2023, the United States of States openly designated Finance and Development Planning Minister Samuel Tweah, Proo-temp Chie, and former Speaker of the  53rd National Legislature James Emmanuel Nuquay for their alleged involvement in significant corruption.

In a release stated that the three top government officials abused their public positions by soliciting, accepting, and offering bribes to manipulate legislative processes and public funding, including legislative reporting and minding sector activity.
