Monrovia: The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), through its Department of Budget and Development Planning, recently concluded a three-day Fiscal Year 2024 National Budget orientation and execution workshop in Liberia. The workshop aimed to educate newly appointed Ministers, deputy ministers, and heads of departments and agencies on budgeting and procurement processes.
With Liberia undergoing significant changes in leadership within the past six months, numerous appointments have occurred across ministries, agencies, and commissions. Many of these appointees are new to budgeting and their roles, highlighting the necessity for training to ensure effective governance.
The workshop, which commenced on Wednesday, May 8, focused on illuminating budgeting and procurement procedures to empower confirmed and active ministers, directors, and agency heads to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
Deputy Minister for Budget and Development Planning at the Ministry of Finance, Hon. Tiana E. Brownson, emphasized the workshop's importance in equipping newly appointed officials to serve the Liberian people effectively. She noted that the workshop not only provides essential knowledge for newcomers but also serves as a refresher for experienced government personnel.
The Ministry of Finance's commitment to capacity-building underscores its dedication to ensuring efficient and transparent governance for the benefit of all Liberians.
