Nico Williams, a young Spanish footballer rooted of African parents, was filled with emotions to dedicate his gold medal to his mother, Maria Arthur Williams, a Ghanaian, following his successful journey with Spain at the Euro 2024.

The 22-year-old Ghanian-Spanish-Born could not hold back his emotions to quickly recognize the role of his mother in his footballing career, describing her as his source of inspiration in the game.

Nico Williams' heartfelt gesture of dedicating his gold medal to his mother, after winning the European Cup with the Spain national team truly underscores the profound impact she has had on his life.

The highly-rated Athletic Bilbao superstar mentioned in multiple interviews: “The first thing I did was be with my parents. They deserve it more than anyone. I gave the medal to my mother because she is the winner of life".

"We are here together now, living a really good live thanks to God. My parents get to see their sons thrive, which is why they came here. Everything we do is for our parents", he said.

Nico Williams from African parents to becoming a Spain national: About 30 years ago, Maria Arthur Williams, the Mother of Nico Williams was pregnant with her first child and left the shores of several African countries crossing by foot, the hellish sun of the Sahara desert.

She managed to climb the fencing of the Melilla border, which is between Morocco and Spain, and finally crossed the peninsula of Bilbao, later where Nico was born in Pamplona, Spain. Now, her talented second son, Nico Williams is the champion of Europe with the Spanish football national team.

Nico's mother broke in tears after she was paid a special tribute by her son while celebrating his success together. The 22-year-old made a significant impact at the Euros, contributing one assist and two goals, including the opener against England in Sunday's final.
