MYS Unveils 2025-2026 National County Sports Meet Group Stage Fixtures

Monrovia, Liberia: The Ministry of Youth and Sports on Friday, April 17, 2025, unveiled the group stage draw for the pending 2025-2026 National County Sports Meet for the regular 15 participating counties in what is the celebrated sporting festival.

 

The ministry announced Maryland County as the official host of the 2025-2026 National County Sports, paired in Group A with Rivercess and Grand Kru Counties. Group B includes Nimba County as group host with Bomi, Sinoe, and Margibi Counties.

 

Group C features Grand Bassa County as host, Grand Cape Mount, two last edition finalists, defending champions Lofa County, and runners-up Grand Gedeh County.

 

The three-county zone, Group D, consists of Gbarpolu as group host and Bong and Montserrado counties.

 

Speaking after he announced the group stage draw at the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville, Youth and Sports Minister Jeror Cole Bangalu disclosed that the 2025-2026 edition of the tournament will kick off on December 14, 2025.

 

He noted that the pending edition of the tournament will be held under the theme "Inclusive Development through Sports."

 

According to Minister Bangalu, the sports disciplines will include, as usual, football, kickball, and basketball.

 

He has at the same time disclosed that plans are underway with the Liberia Football Association to determine the possibility of including women's football for the first time in the competition.
