Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Prime Minister Dies in Helicopter Crash
Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi has died in a helicopter crash along with his Foreign Minister.
The incident which occurred near the Iranian city of Jolfa was a result of bumby landing.
According to Iranian media, President Raisi was heading to the city of Tabriz in North West Iran while returning from the border with Azerbaijan.
He had travelled to open the Qiz Qalasi and Khodaafarin dams.
President Raisi died at age 63. He was elected president in 2021
Before his election as president, he served as the head of the Judiciary.
Mr. Raisi was also elected as deputy chairman of the Assembly of Experts, 88- member clerical body responsible for electing the next supreme leader.
