President Boakai Clarifies Status of Earth Moving Equipment Acquisition

Monrovia : President Boakai has communicated to the House of Representatives that the government is still in the negotiation phase for the acquisition of earth-moving equipment, commonly referred to as "yellow machines." 

At the moment, the country has since witnessed the arrival of some earth-moving equipment the country 

He emphasized that there is no existing agreement requiring legislative ratification at this time.

In a letter dated July 9, 2024, President Boakai informed the House that discussions are ongoing and that no financial commitments have been made regarding the equipment. 

This clarification according to the Liberian Leader comes in response to concerns raised by members of the legislature and the public.

He assured that no funds from the Liberian Treasury have been spent on the equipment.

The communication, signed by the President, also highlighted that if negotiations do not result in a mutually beneficial agreement, the supplier retains the right to reclaim the equipment.

President Boakai confirmed that once a final agreement is reached, the legislature will be informed of the ratification process.
