Speaker Home Gutted in Flames as Authorities Investigate Cause of Fire!

By: William K. Howard

Paynesville City: Residents of Rehab community in District #6, Paynesville stood in shock, witnessing the severe burning of the home of the speaker of the 55th Legislature.

The gigantic building prior to the burning was described as a state of the art structure, which attracted many normally using that route.

The burning of the home of the speaker of the House of Representatives is the second in series, with the similar incident recently occurring at the home of senator Saah H. Joseph ( Ebola Hero).

There has been no casualty reported so far but there are ongoing investigations surrounding the actual cause of the fire that took over the entire building.

It is reported by eyewitnesses that both the speaker and his wife are currently, temporarily seeking refuge at the home of former President George Weah who is just an opposite neighbor.

While the house was burning, the Liberia National Fire and Rescue Service (LNFS) ran from one angle to another, seeking ways out but to no avail until the arrival of the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Corporation (LPRC) who later temporarily quenched the fire.

Despite such huge losses, many including lawmakers are calling for more budgetary support to the Fire and Rescue Service, something that many believe will curb the continuous loss of public and private homes across the country.

Some say, there should be more Fire equipment including PPEs, Water and Fire Trucks and increased salary for those risking their lives to save lives and properties.
