Capitol Hill: The speaker of the House of Representatives has frowned on the ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) for not adequately providing funding for the running of individual lawmakers.
According to speaker J. Fonati Koffa, it is shameful for the Liberia Revenue Authority Authority (LRA) to boast of performing while lawmakers normally credit from local money exchangers to carry out their functions.
‘’ This is disgraceful for us as the first branch of government, how then the Ministry of Finance has not being able to release our allowances and benefits" he blasted.
According to the speaker of the 55th legislature, over the past five months, members of that august body has only received two months out of five months benefits, something he sees as a total disservice to them as lawmakers with so many responsibilities.
Though he did not mention but Knews reporter observed from the tone of the speaker that the UP government (Executive) is not in support of his leadership.
‘’ If we do not receive our three months benefits, will be pushed to shut down this legislature” Koffa Warned.
