Suspended Government Officials Clash with LACC Over Asset Declaration; Salaries Blocked

Monrovia, Liberia: A fight has started between suspended government officials and the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) because the LACC blocked their salaries for not declaring their assets.
The officials say they did follow the rules and posted proof online showing they submitted their asset declarations. But the LACC website claims they didn’t. Later, the Civil Service Agency (CSA) blocked the February 2025 salaries for everyone who did not declare their assets.
The CSA warned that officials who didn’t declare their assets would have their salaries blocked immediately. This is part of President Boakai campaign to stop corruption and make sure government officials follow the rules.
But the suspended officials say the LACC is at fault for not updating their records. One official said, “We sent our declarations months ago, but the LACC didn’t update their system. This is their problem, not ours.â€
The LACC has not commented on the officials claims yet. Meanwhile, the CSA says it will continue blocking salaries as the president ordered.
Some citizens on social media are angry. Some support the government, asking why officials would not declare their assets if they have good intentions. Others are worried about the salary freezes hurting families during hard times in Liberi economy.
The situation is still unclear, and many officials are waiting for the problem to be fixed.
