MONROVIA: In a bid to promote a peaceful atmosphere during the upcoming Presidential Run-off election, a collective of students, organized under the banner of the Social Work Students Association at the University of Liberia, has come forward with an appeal to their fellow students.

During a significant press conference held on Wednesday at the University of Liberia campus, Abdulia Kamara, the President of the group, conveyed a vital message. Kamara underscored that at this critical juncture, it is incumbent upon all Liberians to reflect on the principles of civility and progress exhibited by industrialized societies. He emphasized the need for students to focus on progress, development, and unity, rather than division.

Kamara articulated that the students of the University of Liberia should not allow political differences to drive a wedge between them. Instead, he called for unity to collectively advance the betterment of Liberia. Kamara reminded all that elections are relatively short-term events, contrasting with the enduring governance process of the state, which relies heavily on a foundation of peace.

"It's the responsibility of all Liberians at this crucial time to examine the good moral conduct of the civilized and industrialized societies, where students compete for progress, development, and gain, rather than regression."

The group also took the opportunity to express gratitude towards the Armed Forces of Liberia, the Liberia National Police, and the Liberia Immigration Service, among other security forces, for their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the Liberian state and its citizens throughout the October 10 elections. They stressed the importance of maintaining peace as the nation approaches the November 14 run-off election.

"We extend our appreciation to the Armed Forces of Liberia, the Liberia National Police, and members of the Liberia Immigration Service for their nationalist stance and courage in protecting the Liberian State and its people throughout the October 10 elections. It's time to maintain the peace ahead of the November 14 polls."
