Liberia: Former Chief Justice Gloria Scott Found Guilty, But...

MONROVIA: Following the final argument in the Gloria Musu-Scott murder trial, eleven men of the twelve men panel of jurors have handed down a unanimous guilty verdict against Cllr. Gloria Musu-Scott and three of her family members. Those tried include former chief justice Gloria Musu-Scott, Alice Johnson, Gertrude Newton, and Rebecca Youndeh Wisner.  They are guilty of murder, criminal conspiracy, and raising false alarm to law enforcement officers, according to the jurors.

But the defense lawyers upon hearing the guilty verdict made an exception and have vowed to make use of the laws and have urged to file a motion for 'Retrial'.

During the final argument, the prosecutor maintained that Charloe Musu was murdered by co-defendant Scott and three others but tried to seal their crimes using sinister means

Prosecution in closing charged the jurors to hold the defendants guilty of the crime charged because the Armed robber would not enter a home and only attacked and killed one person.

The defense's final arguments relied on the reports of the autopsy done by Dr. Matthias I. Okoye who stated that there was a male DNA found in the fingernail clippings from the deceased.

Meanwhile, the defendants have been taken back to jail to wait for their prison sentence which is expected to be delivered by Judge Willie.

This is breaking news, details to follow...
