Monrovia, Liberia: Ahead of the May 14 National Unification Day, a group under the banner "One Liberia" has embarked on an initiative to unite and reconcile Liberians through sports, entertainment, and cultural performances.

The initiative according to "One Liberia" is under the name "Unity Fest" and seeks to boost National Unification and promote peace and unity among citizens.

Speaking at the organizing dialogue in Monrovia, the chief organizer, and Representative of District #9 Nimba County, Taa Wongbe stressed that One Liberia's vision is to bond citizens with acts of entertainment

He emphasized that against this backdrop the group, One Liberia, has organized a fest for national unity to bring together dignitaries, entertainers, and artists among others on May 14 to commemorate this year's Liberia National Unification Day in the spirit of one love.

"This vision came as a way to unite Liberia, especially after the war and we have been around for over twenty years doing different things and also uniting Liberians through cultural acts, music, and entertainment".

"And we felt like National Unification Day is a day that has not been celebrated to that extent and we should do something every year, and we are going to be doing this annually", Chief Organizer and Representative, Wongbe explained.

However, political divisions keep to infiltrate the national unification of Liberia as the county seems to be heavily politically divided from the 2023 General and Presidential elections.

Representative Wongbe underscored that the initiative will put youths at the center of peace-building and unity in Liberia by using the platforms of the country's culture, music, and entertainment.

In addition, a representative from One Liberia, Nusone Perkins mentioned that the Unity Fest to be held outside Monrovia will hope to give greater opportunity, unite Liberians, and boost the entertainment industry.

For their part, entertainers expressed a firm commitment to using their talents to bring together and unite Liberians on the National Unification Day.
