USA: Senator Rollan Roberts of West Virginia, a key contender in the 2024 U.S. Presidential race, has strongly opposed recent sanctions on Liberia's Finance Minister, accusing them of stemming from corruption within American institutions.

The sanctions, including a lifetime travel ban and financial restrictions, were imposed due to the Finance Minister favoring a Liberian company over an American one in a national contract.
