Mayor Siaffa Expresses Frustration After Surveying MCC Entire Building

The newly inducted city mayor of Monrovia toured the entire facility on February 29, 2024, and his disappointment was deep, though he abstained from expressing it to journalists.

John-Charuk Siaffa expressed his disappointment with the condition of various facilities, including the Theater, bathrooms, IT department, and the city police department, particularly the jail hall. However, the state of the Theater stood out as particularly deplorable.

Despite his frustration evident during the tour, the newly inducted MCC boss refrained from voicing his concerns publicly.

During the tour, Monrovia city police director Thomas Garwo was publicly admonished by Mayor Siaffa for not being properly dressed in his city police uniform.

Mayor Siaffa, in an assertive tone, questioned Garwo about his attire. Garwo claimed he was unaware of the tour, but an MCC employee quickly informed Siaffa that Garwo had been informed but chose to pretend otherwise.

Expressing his frustration, Siaffa admonished Garwo, stating, “What do you take me for? Do you think I'm here to joke right ?” He said.

Digitization was another key point of focus for Mayor Siaffa during his tour. He expressed sympathy for staffers still relying on paper documents in the modern world. Making a stop at the revenue department, Siaffa pledged to implement modern technology and digitization under his leadership at MCC.

After the tour, Siaffa faced intense questioning from a team of journalists. His response emphasized his role as MCC Boss and his support from President Joseph Nuymah Boakai in rescuing the country. He expressed no surprise given the circumstances.

He affirmed his administration's commitment to renovating the entire MCC building and prioritizing the cleanliness of Monrovia's streets and surrounding areas.

Siaffa also underscored the importance of community partnership in maintaining clean environments for various communities and schools. "There is no way we can succeed without community participation," he emphasized
