Sinoe County
– September 24, 2024 – A domestic dispute earlier today has left Agnes Thomas hospitalized at F.J. Grant Memorial Hospital. The incident took place in New Kru Town, Greenville City, where Agnes has been residing with her partner, Ocampo Marlue.

Speaking to Report from her hospital bed, Agnes recounted enduring a troubled relationship with Marlue for the past four to five years, ever since he brought her from Monrovia. She described their relationship as tumultuous, with continuous challenges. Despite efforts by others to help, Agnes remained in the relationship, hoping things would improve.

"She said Since I started living with him, life has been difficult. Every time I thought about leaving, people would talk to me, and I stayed. But this time, things became unbearable," Agnes shared, explaining her decision to leave. This morning, she began packing her belongings and moving them to her son's room. When Marlue returned home and realized she was leaving, he became enraged.

"He asked me, ‘You’re leaving today?’ I said yes, because I felt there was no love anymore," Agnes recounted. She explained that Marlue tried to prevent her from leaving, leading to a confrontation. During the altercation, Agnes defended herself. A concerned neighbor, hearing the commotion, intervened, enabling Agnes to escape and seek help.

"I ran behind my house, and someone was there. They helped me and brought me to the hospital," she recalled. The incident has raised alarm within the community. Agnes noted that earlier in the day, she saw Marlue with friends.

The Liberian National Police (LNP) have declared Ocampo Marlue wanted in connection with the incident. Authorities are actively searching for him, and the public is urged to report any sightings or information regarding his whereabouts to the nearest police station.

Agnes is currently receiving medical care at F.J. Grant Memorial Hospital, where her condition is being closely monitored. This incident highlights the critical need for addressing domestic issues and providing support to individuals in abusive relationships. The LNP urges anyone with information on Ocampo Marlue’s whereabouts to immediately contact the authorities.
