Information Minister Rejects Claims of Liberia Involvement in Destabilizing Burkina Faso

Monrovia, Liberia: Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah has strongly refuted recent allegations that Liberia is being used by Western powers as a tool to destabilize the West African nation of Burkina Faso. The Minister described the accusations as completely false and politically motivated.

The claims, allegedly promoted by opposition figures, suggest that Liberia has aligned itself with foreign interests in a plot to undermine Pan-African solidarity, a claim Minister Piah dismissed as dangerous misinformation while cautioning the public against being misled by such narratives.

He accused the opposition of spreading these falsehoods as part of a broader campaign to sabotage the government's credibility and distract from national progress. According to Piah, the opposition's tactics reflect desperation and a desire to gain political relevance through manipulation and deceit.

The Minister said that attempts to portray Liberia as anti-Pan-Africanist are not only baseless but also offensive to the country’s legacy and diplomatic track record. He noted that Liberia has always stood on the side of African independence and unity, and any claim to the contrary is deeply misleading.

Minister Piah emphasized that Liberia maintains strong diplomatic relations with Burkina Faso, citing recent high-level official visits as evidence of the cordial ties between both nations.

He also disclosed that both countries are nearing the finalization of a security cooperation agreement designed to strengthen peace and promote mutual interests.

The MICAT boss highlighted Liberia’s consistent stance on African solidarity, stating that Liberia cannot and will not be misrepresented in matters concerning the continent’s unity, adding that Liberia’s diplomatic engagements are rooted in transparency, sovereignty, and respect for all nations.

The Minister also pointed out that those using international relations as a tool for domestic political warfare are not only reckless but dangerous, calling on political opponents to exercise responsibility and avoid sowing seeds of division for short-term gains.

Piah urged the Liberian public to remain cautious of propaganda designed to inflame tensions or erode confidence in national leadership, noting that it is crucial for citizens to seek verified information and resist efforts to destabilize the country through misinformation.

The Information Minister reaffirmed Liberia’s unwavering commitment to peace, diplomacy, and African unity, entreating all stakeholders to prioritize national interest over politics and to support efforts aimed at promoting regional cooperation and development.
