U. S. State Department Confirms 2,004 Liberians Win 2025 Diversity Visa Lottery Program

Kentucky, United States: The United States Department of State has officially released the results of the 2025 Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery, with a total of 2,004 Liberians selected to move forward in the process of obtaining permanent resident status in the United States.

The figure represents a notable increase in the number of Liberian nationals selected compared to previous years, reaffirming Liberia’s steady participation in the U.S. immigration diversity program.

The DV Lottery program, also known as the Green Card Lottery, is an annual initiative by the U.S. government to offer permanent resident status to individuals from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the United States. This year’s selection process drew millions of applicants globally.

Entrants will begin checking their results on Saturday, May 3, 2025, through the official Entrant Status Check portal at dvprogram.state.gov—the only authorized site for result confirmation. The system requires entrants to input their confirmation number, family name, and year of birth to view their status.

U.S. Embassy officials in Monrovia have reminded applicants that being selected is only the first step. "Winning the lottery does not guarantee a visa,” an embassy spokesperson cautioned. “Successful entrants must meet strict eligibility requirements, complete interviews, and submit supporting documents within the stipulated time.”

According to the U.S. Green Card Office, winners must complete their visa processing and interviews before the fiscal deadline of September 30, 2025. Failure to meet this timeline results in automatic disqualification, regardless of selection.

The U.S. Embassy continues to urge applicants to beware of scams and unofficial notifications, reiterating that all updates and instructions should be accessed only through the official State Department website.

For those not selected this year, the State Department is expected to reopen the DV-2027 registration period later this year.
