American National Accuse of Attempted Homicide Takes The Witness Stand/Testifies In Court

The American National Lucas Richards accused of attempted murder has taken the witness stand to testify on his behalf in the ongoing trial at Criminal Court B in Monrovia.

Lucas Richards in September of 2023, was accused of trying to slit the throat of his alleged girlfriend Jessica Lloyd around the Caldwell area, on the out sketch of Monrovia.

Providing his account in his testimony on Monday, defendant Richards noted that at no time did he try to kill his alleged girlfriend Jessica Llyod,  as being speculated in the public, adding "it was a motorcyclist who hit  Ms. Lloyd and I was trying to help her"

Recounting the moment of the incident, defendant Richards said on September 14, 2023, he received a message from Jessica that she needed a financial assistance and some food items, something which he said he gave $US 150  along with the food items.

According to him, Jessica informed him that the food items were small, and he requested that they go to a nearby supermarket to buy additional food items.

Defendant Richards further testified in open court that at no time did he administer a tablet to Jessica to terminate her pregnancy. He said "Jessica informed me that she was sick, and I immediately sent her money for her to go to the ELWA Hospital for treatment"

However, one of prosecution witnesses, Nancy T. Borbor taking the stand revealed that Jessica Lloyd on August 21,2023 visited the ELWA, where she serves as a registered Midwife and when check was 1month 2weeks three days and after, pregnant.

Jessica Lloyd in her testimony revealed that the defendant upon hearing she was pregnant,  give her some drugs which later resulted to a miscarriage of the pregnancy.

Notwithstanding, the American National revealed to the court during trial that Jessica had offered herself to be a surrogate mother after he explained his wife inability to bear a child in one of his classes, noting that he never had any sexual intercourse with the victim due to his medical condition.

Meanwhile, the trial continues on Tuesday, with the state prosecutor’s rebuttal witnesses to debunk some of the thing’s defendant Richards said while on the witness stand.
