House Approves One-Twelfth Budget Amidst 2024 Budget Delayed

Capitol Hill: The Honorable House of Representatives (HOR), has unanimously voted to approve the request made by President Joseph Nyumah Boakai to spend a little over 41 million United States dollars. This will cover the government operations for the month of February 2024.
According to the House Press Director Robert Haynes, Plenary reached the decision Tuesday, February 20, 2024, following a joint committee report in which the Ways Means & Finance and Public Accounts indicated that having conducted the required constitutional process and legislative due diligence, submitted the report to Plenary with accompanying recommendations.
The joint committee recommended that the report be approved to avoid the Gov’t from shutting down and further for civil servants to take pay, and be sent to the Senate for concurrence.
It can be recalled on February 15, 2024 the President, H.E. Joseph Nyumah Boakai wrote seeking the authorization to spend the amount of US$41,300,000.00
Following the submission of the report and further deliberation by the Ways Means and Finance Chair and Montserrado district #16 Representative Dixon Seboe, a motion was proffered by Montserrado County District #13 Representative Edward P. Flomo endorsing the report and plenary voted to pass the instrument to the Liberian Senate for concurrence.
