National GBV 116 Call Center Now Fully Operational
Monrovia, Liberia – The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has announced that the National GBV 116 Call Center is now fully operational and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This vital service aims to provide continuous support to survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) across Liberia.
The toll-free platform, restructured with support from the World Bank, offers a confidential and accessible way for survivors to report violence and seek immediate assistance. The call center addresses all forms of violence against women, girls, and children, ensuring timely intervention and access to necessary resources.
Equipped with trained operators working in shifts, the center responds to calls in real time, directing urgent cases to law enforcement, health facilities, and social service providers. Additionally, it maintains a comprehensive database for monitoring and evaluation, helping shape policies to combat GBV effectively.
The refurbished National GBV 116 Call Center was officially unveiled in December 2024, in a ceremony attended by government officials and civil society representatives. The launch signifies a major step forward in the Ministry's efforts to enhance support systems for survivors, promote justice, and create a safer environment for women and children.
"The National GBV 116 Call Center serves as a lifeline for survivors, offering hope and immediate assistance," the Ministry said in a statement.
Liberians are encouraged to use the service to report violence and access help. For immediate support, call the toll-free number 116 at any time.
