“Since 1820, Liberia Set to Launch Water Taxis to Enhance Transportation and Boost Tourism”

Monrovia, Liberia: A new water transport service is set to launch in Monrovia this month, aiming to improve transportation and tourism. Led by former Senator Dan Morias, the service will use three safety-equipped boats to travel from Providence Island to 72nd Boulevard, helping university students, government workers, and other commuters get into the city faster.
Morias confirmed that the boats have already arrived in Liberia, and the launch is in collaboration with the Maritime Authority and the Ministry of Information’s tourism division. Plans are also being made for docking stations and clear schedules for pick-up and drop-off.
The new service will focus on safety, and Morias emphasized that fares will be affordable for everyone.
This initiative is part of Liberia’s ARREST agenda, which highlights the importance of tourism for the country’s growth.
A Look at Liberia’s Water Transport History
Water transportation has always been important in Liberia, with the country’s rivers and coastline playing a key role in trade and travel. Since the early 1800s, boats and ferries have been used for getting around, especially in areas that are hard to reach by road. The new service is a modern step forward in continuing this long-standing tradition.
