Tragedy: Rep. Mensah Terms Recent Incident as National Disaster Calls for Prompt Intervention from Govt. and Partners
Representative Mensah speaking to kNewsonline.com via mobile phone said examination conducted by Representatives of the Disaster Management Agency at the site of the incident revealed that total of 32 persons got burnt beyond recognition, while four deaths were pronounced from Hospitals across the county.
The Bong County District six Representative also revealed that the total injured persons taken to various Hospitals across the country have exceeded 100, besides those being treated at home by family members within the community.
She used the occasion to call on government, international partners and other well-meaning Liberians to come to the aid of the People of Totota and Bong County, as the number of death continues to rise from various hospitals where the injured people were taken across the country.
She however extended her gratitude to the Offices of Bong County Senators Prince Moye and Johnny Kpehe, the Health Workers in the country, as well as community dwellers for their individual and collective efforts in responding to the situation in a timely manner.
Tuesday, December 26, 2023, about 5:30 pm, a Petroleum Tanker conveying Gasoline from Monrovia to Gbarnga burst into flame on Totota Main Street where it has earlier fallen, killing about over 40 persons and leaving over hundred others seriously injured.
Some residents according to information have reportedly gathered to make away with gasoline pouring from the Tanker when it unfortunately burst into flame.
