Maryland: A 55-year-old man identified as David Flomo tragically drowned following a motorcycle accident between Wutuken and Pomuken Towns on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

David, who was known for providing daily transportation services on his motorbike, was reportedly transporting rubber latex from Pomuken to Wutuken. While crossing one of the major stick-built bridges over a creek on the federal road between the towns, he lost his balance, causing both him and his heavily loaded bike to fall into the creek.

A team of security personnel and health practitioners, led by Police CID Jimmy T. Kaydor, arrived at the scene. The health team pronounced David Flomo dead on the spot, and a 15-member coroner's jury was set up to investigate the cause of his death.

The coroner's jury reported no foul play, and the victim’s remains were handed over to his family.

Addressing reporters, Detective Jimmy T. Kaydor of the Pleebo Police CID/CSD emphasized the importance of safety measures for cyclists.

"You can't carry such heavy loads and cross these types of stick bridges.

We urge all cyclists and drivers to prioritize safety, because in everything you do, your life comes first," Detective Kaydor stated.

The sudden death of David Flomo has sparked fear in the communities of Pomuken and Wutuken.

Moses Davis, Youth President of Wutuken Township, expressed the urgent need for government officials and humanitarian organizations to assist in constructing safer bridges along the federal roads in the district.

"This situation has us all afraid. Our government and other goodwill individuals should please help us build safer bridges. There are too many federal roads in this district," Davis pleaded.

Reports indicate that many towns in the rural areas of Maryland (District 3, Karluway) have federal roads with numerous bridges, most of which are constructed from sticks.

This tragic incident highlights the urgent need for humanitarian institutions and government officials in Maryland County to take immediate action to prevent further loss of life.
