AREPT Warns Person Of Interest To Comply Or Face Prosecution

Monrovia, Liberia – Following its recent landmark victory before the Supreme Court of Liberia, the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce (AREPT) remains resolute in its mandate to investigate and recover state assets unlawfully acquired.
AREPT has observed with concern that some persons of interest have deliberately refused to honor its invitations, while others are actively evading the process.
This deliberate disregard for due process undermines accountability and the rule of law. In light of this, AREPT confirms that second invitations have been dispatched to the concerned individuals. Failure to appear and cooperate will leave the Taskforce with no alternative but to proceed with the evidence in its possession.
Those who ignore these invitations will face formal charges, indictment, and subsequent prosecution in strict accordance with the laws of Liberia. AREPT reiterates its commitment to transparency, fairness, and justice in the recovery of public assets.
The Taskforce urges all individuals under investigation to present themselves and engage with the process in good faith. The law will take its course, and there will be no safe haven for those who seek to obstruct justice.
The Task Force was established by President Joseph Boakai in March 2024 through Executive Order No. 126 to search, seize, and investigate government assets obtained illegally.
At the same time, AREPT is urging the public to report suspicious ill-gotten wealth and assure full confidentiality for all whistleblowers.
