Breaking News: Embattled Speaker Koffa's Wife Quits Top Post at JFK

Monrovia, Liberia: Dama R. Yekeson-Koffa, wife of enbattled Speaker Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa, has officially resigned from her position as Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Administration at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Medical Center (JFK) with immediate effect.

In her resignation letter addressed to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on February 17, 2025, Yekeson-Koffa stated that the urgent need to prioritize her mother's critical medical needs prompted her decision to resign.

In her resignation letter, Yekeson-Koffa expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve and reflected on the remarkable transformations the hospital has undergone during her tenure.

"I have had the privilege to positively impact health outcomes for thousands of Liberians. However, I can no longer fully commit to the demands of the position and do not wish to impede the growth of the JFK Executive Management Team," she stated.

Yekeson-Koffa’s tenure at JFK Medical Center saw the implementation of significant healthcare improvements, including the establishment of a cancer center, dialysis unit, and imaging center, alongside major renovations and the introduction of new medical services. Her leadership played a key role in transforming the hospital into a more comprehensive and modern institution capable of serving thousands of Liberians in need of specialized care.

Her resignation comes as the hospital continues its growth, and while her departure leaves a significant leadership gap. However, she expressed confidence that JFK will continue to thrive.

"I am confident that the hospital will continue to develop and direct the trajectory of clinical healthcare delivery in Liberia," she noted in her letter.

Yekeson-Koffa’s departure marks the end of a chapter in the ongoing transformation of Liberia’s healthcare system. Her dedication to the hospital’s mission and the improvement of healthcare access for Liberians leaves a lasting legacy at JFK Medical Center.
