"Defying President Boakai's Call, Jefferson Koijee calls on CDCIANS to Ignored Asset Recovery Team.”

Jefferson Koijee, who previously served as the City Mayor of Monrovia in Liberia and was recently sanctioned by the United States Government, has emerged as a prominent voice challenging President Joseph Nuymah Boakai's asset recovery efforts.

Before issuing these statements, former Monrovia City Mayor Koijee has been outspoken in his criticism of the Boakai Koung government, consistently scrutinizing their actions and policies. He has emphasized the need for accountability and justice, particularly in the face of injustices and violence perpetrated against peaceful citizens across the country.

Expressing deep concern over recent incidents such as the alleged murder by the LDEA of a young man and the LEC power theft team's actions, Koijee has vehemently condemned such acts of violence and impunity. He has highlighted the Kinjor massacre, calling out President Boakai for his silence on these matters, alleging a lack of concern for human lives.

Koijee has asserted that President Boakai's indifference to these issues indicates a disturbing commitment to allowing atrocities to occur without consequence. He has underscored the importance of establishing a War and Economic Crimes Court to hold perpetrators accountable for their actions, urging all senators to support the bill unconditionally.

Commending the courage of members of the House of Representatives for passing the bill with an overwhelming majority, Koijee has emphasized the need for continuous vigilance in addressing governance issues and holding leaders accountable for their actions.

Turning his attention to recent controversies, Koijee has sharply criticized EPS Boss Sam Gaye for his alleged intimidation tactics against members of the force. He has vehemently opposed any abuse of power and has warned against dismissing trained individuals who have served the state. Koijee has called for an end to such actions, asserting that narrow electoral victories should not be wielded as a license to trample on the rights and dignity of citizens.

His recent statement was on President Boakai Joseph Nuymah Boakai's asset recovery, Koijee criticizes President Boakai’s Asset Recovery Team as "nonsense," but the UP Montserrado Youth Congress dismisses Koijee's assertion as ignorant. The Coalition for Democratic Change labels President Boakai's initiative to retrieve government properties from former state actors as nonsensical; emphasizing those even party members will not be subject to the process. Koijee questions the integrity and credibility of the recovery team, warning President Boakai against initiatives he cannot sustain, urging him to focus on his elected responsibilities. The CDC appoints Atty. Augustine Janga Kowo as Acting National Chair to lead the party to its April 2024 National Convention, succeeding Mr. Mulbah Morlu.

Responding to Koijee’s criticism, the Unity Party Montserrado Youth Congress asserts that Koijee's comments stem from ignorance. They emphasize their commitment to hold past officials accountable for looted public properties through legal means, rejecting any notion of witch-hunting. Sylvester Wonplue, Chair of UPMYC, warns against undemocratic actions by Koijee and his associates, pledging to resist any counterproductive moves against good governance.
