Dump Trucks Driver Union Leader Calls for Government Action to Resolve Road Access Dispute in Liberia

Morris Sangare, the president of the National Dump Truck Workers Union of Liberia, is urging the Liberian government, the Ministry of Labor and Ministry of Mines and Energy to intervene and resolve the ongoing dispute between his union, the East International Road Construction Company, and the residents of Beantown in Lower Margibi.

According to the Dump Truck Workers Union of Liberia boss, his call is triggered by the many protests in the area involving all the parties as well as the struggle for the usage of the road continue noting that the motor road can be prevented in this early stage so as to save the government from further danger.

The issue at hand revolves around the allowance of commercial trucks to pass through the company's rock crushing center. The East International Road Construction Company has been blocking these trucks from using the road that passes through the center.

East International justification for this action has been that truck owners have refused to purchase loose dirt and crushed rock materials from them.

Sangare is calling on the government to step in and find a resolution to this conflict, as it is affecting the livelihoods of the dump truck workers and causing inconvenience for the residents of Beantown.

The ongoing dispute has led to a standstill in operations for the dump truck workers, who rely on passing through the center to transport materials for construction projects.

The residents of Beantown are also feeling the impact of the conflict, as the blockage of the road has disrupted their daily lives and caused delays in transportation.

Sangare emphasized the importance of finding a solution that benefits all parties involved and ensures the smooth operation of the road construction company and the livelihoods of the dump truck workers.

I’m calling on the government to come in now before things go out of hand, because the Chinese are taking disadvantage of us ordinary citizens as well as members of this Union” Sangare said.

The Liberian government has yet to respond to Sangare's plea for intervention, but the president of the National Dump Truck Workers Union remains hopeful that a resolution can be reached soon to end the ongoing dispute and restore normalcy to the area.
