Education Minister Commits to Strengthening Teacher Training in Liberia

Monrovia, Liberia: Liberia’s Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso Jallah Saygbe, has reaffirmed her commitment to improving Teacher Training Institutes (TTIs) as a key step toward enhancing education quality nationwide.
The Minister emphasized that well-trained educators are essential for building a strong education system and ensuring better learning outcomes for students.
Speaking at an induction ceremony in Kakata, Margibi County Minister Jallah Saygbe highlighted the importance of TTIs in preparing teachers to meet modern educational demands.
She pledged to introduce reforms that will make teacher training more effective, practical, and aligned with international best practices.
The Education Minister assured that under her leadership, graduates from these institutions will be fully equipped to deliver high-quality education.
She also stressed the need for strengthening the training of master trainers, ensuring that they have access to modern teaching methods.
The Education Minister acknowledged the role of Liberia’s development partners in supporting teacher education and capacity-building programs, which she believes are crucial for sustaining long-term improvements in the education sector.
As part of the ceremony, Madam Sorna Sheriff was officially inducted as the new Director of the Kakata Rural Teacher Training Institute (KRTTI).
Madam Sheriff in her acceptance speech expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education and pledged to lead with dedication and integrity. She stressed the need for teamwork and innovation to further improve teacher education at KRTTI.
Madam Sheriff reaffirmed the institute’s role in preparing educators through its "B" and "C" Certificate Programs, which train teachers for deployment across all 15 counties of Liberia.
The newly inducted Director of KRTTI noted that strengthening teacher education is essential to national development, as teachers play a vital role in shaping the country’s future.
The induction of Madam Sheriff indicates the Education Minister's commitment to reforms, marking a renewed focus on strengthening Liberia’s education system.
The Ministry of Education remains dedicated to ensuring that TTIs produce skilled, confident, and well-prepared teachers who can contribute meaningfully to national progress.
