Finding the Perfect Culture Ambassador: Who Fits the Position?"

The role of Liberia's Cultural Ambassador has gathered increased attention among Liberians due to the longstanding tenure of Madam Julie Endee, who has held the position for over 30 years. However, it has also faced criticism from those who aspire to assume the role.

Madam Julie Endee brought prominence to the Liberia Culture Ambassador position since her appointment in September 1995. Recognized by the Liberian Government for her efforts in mobilizing support for Liberian artists and fostering peace through artistic expression, she is hailed as "Queen Juli Endee" by many. While her tenure has attracted widespread attention to the position, concerns have been raised regarding the lack of infrastructure development, such as the establishment of a vibrant culture village across Liberia's fifteen political subdivisions, and the need to restore respect for Liberian culture.

Criticism of Madam Endee's leadership has fueled discussions about potential successors. Notable figures such as Nayapougma Oldpa Yeazeahn (Prophet Key), Josephine Kolubah (Coffee with Jojo), and Mz Menneh have emerged as contenders. Prophet Key and Coffee with Jojo have particularly captured public attention, with both enjoying significant support among citizens.

However, scrutiny of Prophet Key has highlighted concerns about his moral character, with some questioning his suitability for the role. His outspoken criticism of government officials, often resorting to insults, has drawn criticism from Jojo's supporters and human rights activists, including Lawrence Dayougar. Dayougar emphasizes the importance of moral integrity and a positive public image for the Cultural Ambassador role, advocating for greater women's participation and endorsing Josephine Kolubah as the ideal candidate.

Josephine Kolubah, CEO of Jojo Hope House, is renowned for her dedication to empowering disadvantaged youth and promoting societal integration. With a background in Substance Abuse Social Work and a commitment to youth development, she is seen as a strong contender for the Cultural Ambassador position.

In contrast, Prophet Key has positioned himself as a cultural ambassador who prioritizes promoting Liberia's image on the global stage. He argues that the role transcends mere cultural performances and requires a deep understanding of Liberia's cultural heritage. Despite criticisms from some quarters, Prophet Key remains steadfast in his campaign for the position, confident in his qualifications and vision for the role.

The Prophet stated that individuals vying for the aforementioned position, such as Jojo and Juli Endee, lack understanding of Liberian culture. He asserted himself as the most suitable candidate, elaborating that the current Culture Ambassador lacks awareness of her role, dubbing her an 'empty vessel.' The Prophet emphasized that despite Queen Endee's 30-year tenure, there are no tangible outcomes such as a website, Cultural Heritage Village, or even established bank accounts, indicating her focus solely on self-promotion rather than promoting Liberian culture.

Prophet Key's Vision: Prophet Key envisions revitalizing Liberia's cultural sector by decentralizing it across the 15 counties. He advocates for active citizen participation in Liberian culture. As part of his vision, he proposes establishing a culture center in each county to showcase Liberian cultural activities to tourists and enable Liberians to represent their culture abroad, particularly in other African countries.

He plans to collaborate with Liberian community leaders ('Zoe's') to educate others about Liberian culture and dispel misconceptions, emphasizing that culture is not witchcraft but rather the social behavior of individuals.

Prophet Key believes that if the Liberian people, including the current leadership, do not support his candidacy, it reflects a reluctance to embrace positive cultural change in Liberia.

The Role of the cultural Ambassador is not an appointed position. there is no fix budget for said position.
