Prophet Key Release On Recognizance Bond, Following Arrest

Liberia international sensational social media blogger identified as Nayaborqua Yeazeahn, alias Prophet Key has been released on personal recognizance bond by Magistrate Ben Barco.

The bond issue by the Monrovia City Court Magistrate followed a request by lawyers representing the legal interests of Mr. Yeazeahn.

In law, a personal recognizance bond, or a “PR” bond, is a bond that allows the accused to be released from jail without having to pay a financial sum. The offender has to promise to appear in court on a certain date.

According to our Judicial Correspondent, Yeazeahn was brought before the court on Thursday February 15, on charges of criminal coercion, menacing and disorderly conduct.

He was complained to the court by Liberia culture ambassador, Julie Endee who informed the court that prophet key in one of his podcast accused her of being in a relationship with ex-president George Weah, and other officials of government including Unity Party secretary general Amos Tweh to retain her position as Cultural Ambassador.

"In his show, prophet key threatened me and said i will never work in any other government in my lifetime, and I'm afraid for my life” she stressed.

Ambassador Endee, added that the defendant did it with the intent and purpose to bring her to public ridicule and shame, stating "this act is criminal, illegal, and unconstitutional."

Following the appearance of defendant Yeazeahn, prosecution lawyers asked the court to issue a writ of Nel-exist Republica on him to prevent his exits from Liberia.

For their part the defense lawyers, prayed the court for continue to allow them adequately prepare to represent their client legal interest and to also afford them time to file his criminal appearance bond in keeping with law.

The defendant lawyers further argued that the status that created the magistral court does not allow criminal cases to be held in the afternoon hours, noting that the defendant was brought under the jurisdiction of the court after 3pm.

On February 5, 2024, a writ of arrest was issued by Monrovia City Court Judge Magistrate Ben Barco following a complaint filed by Liberia's Culture Ambassador Julie Endee for Criminal Coercion, Menacing and Disorderly Conduct against Prophet Key while he was still in Morracco.

Meanwhile, following defendant Yeazeahn appearance at the court, the Monrovia city court judge Ben Barco, granted a' motion filed by his lawyers, thereby extending the case to a later date with issuance of a notice of assignment.
