KUSA Trio Dedicates Debut Victory to Fallen Teammates in Totota Tanker Explosion

In a heartfelt gesture of sympathy, Tony Lucas Sumoward, Matthias Freeman, and Alfred Siawelee, former teammates of TUSA FC, dedicated their first victory on debut for KUSA to their late and former teammates who tragically lost their lives in the Totota Tanker Explosion on December 26, 2023.

The trio, who followed coach Joseph Carter from TUSA to join another local rival, continued their successful partnership that led them to win the 2021-22 Championship and finish as runners-up in the 2020-21 and 2022-23 seasons in the LFA Bong 3rd Division League.

Lucas and Siawelee, both wingers, and Freeman, a center-back, started this year's opening match against newly-promoted Vertu Football Club, which they won 3-0 at the David Kuyon Sports Stadium, with Lucas scoring a brace.

Despite their recent move to KUSA, the three former Totota Boys wore special T-shirts during the match. The back of the shirts read, "TOTOTA WILL RISE AGAIN, RIP TO OUR FALLEN SOLDIERS," while the front depicted the dreadful flames of the explosion, serving as a poignant tribute to their lost teammates.

According to available information, three members of TUSA, including Wesseh Mcgill (center-back), Alex S. Kollie (goalkeeper), and K. Richard A. Flomo (caretaker), were among the victims of the tragic explosion. Kollie and Flomo were among the over 40 reported deaths resulting from the disaster that occurred in Totota, where the club is based.

The dedication shown by Lucas, Freeman, and Siawelee not only highlights their deep bond with their former teammates but also serves as a reminder of the strength and resilience of the Totota community. Their tribute demonstrates the unity and support that exists within the football fraternity, as they honor the memory of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident.

As the season progresses, it is expected that the trio will continue to honor their fallen comrades, both on and off the field, as they strive for success in their new club. Their dedication and determination will undoubtedly inspire their teammates and serve as a lasting legacy for the fallen soldiers of TUSA FC.
