LDEA Seizes Over $100,000 Worth of Drugs in Sinkor
The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), under the leadership of Officer in Charge Christopher Peters, has recently made a significant drug seizure in the 18th Street community of Sinkor, Monrovia. On August 22, 2024, the LDEA confiscated drugs valued at over $100,000 from Abu Keita, a 36-year-old Ivorian national.
The seized drugs included 1.8 kg of heroin, valued at $81,000, and 1.8 kg of methamphetamine (Kush), worth $36,000. Following the seizure, an immediate test confirmed the substances’ identities. Abu Keita has been charged with possession, sale, and distribution of narcotics under the 2023 Drugs Law and the Penal Law of Liberia, and has been forwarded to court for prosecution.
Since Christopher Peters assumed leadership of the LDEA on June 4, 2024, the agency has seized approximately $1.5 million worth of drugs nationwide. The LDEA remains committed to combating drug trafficking and minimizing drug abuse across the country.
