Liberia’s Culture Ambassador Threatens Resignation over Lack of Government Support

Monrovia, Liberia: Knews has been informed that Liberia’s newly appointed Culture Ambassador, Keikura Kamara, popularly known as "Balawala Malawala," has threatened to quit the post due to lack of support from the Government of Liberia.

According to a source close to Ambassador Kamara, he has grown increasingly frustrated since assuming office over six months ago that the government and stakeholders have shown him no level of support to make his office functional.

The source revealed that the culture ambassador has not received any budgetary allocation, does not have an official office, and lacks essential resources such as staff and vehicles to effectively execute his duties.

“Anytime there is a program for him to implement, he is asked to pre-finance it, but he does not have the required capital,” the source hinted, Knews.

Adding to his frustration, Ambassador Kamara reportedly expressed concerns that despite Juli Endee no longer holding the position, she continues to secure lucrative projects from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), international NGOs (INGOs), and government institutions.

He reportedly stated that this situation is undermining his ability to function effectively.

As a result, Ambassador Kamara is considering stepping away from his role and returning to his diamond mining operations in Grand Cape Mount County.

He lamented, according to our source, that since his appointment, he has not embarked on any international trips to promote Liberia’s rich cultural heritage and tourism sector, an area with huge potential that could generate significant revenue for the government.
