Rep. Jeremiah Sokan Pledges Focus on Road Infrastructure and Job Creation for Grand Gedeh in 2025"

 Grand Gedeh Liberia: In his first year as the Representative of Grand Gedeh Electoral District 1, Jeremiah Sokan has celebrated a series of key accomplishments aimed at improving the lives of his constituents. During a gathering held on Monday, December 30, 2024, in Tchien District, Sokan cataloged road rehabilitation, increased access to electricity, and financial support for underprivileged youth as some of the highlights of his tenure.

The one-day meeting, which brought together local residents and stakeholders, served as a platform to review the representative’s achievements and discuss plans for the year ahead. Reflecting on his year in office, Sokan expressed his gratitude to the people of Grand Gedeh for their trust and support during the 2023 Presidential and Legislative Elections.

"I am deeply thankful for the confidence you have placed in me," Sokan said to a cross-section of his constituents. "It is an honor to serve you, and I am committed to ensuring your needs are addressed in every way possible."

One of the standout accomplishments in Representative Sokan's first year has been the improvement of road infrastructure. He highlighted the ongoing road rehabilitation projects as pivotal to enhancing connectivity and driving economic growth in the district. He also underscored the importance of access to reliable electricity as a priority, which he believes will improve daily life and attract new business opportunities.

Sokan shared plans for upcoming developmental initiatives, including the efforts to reopen Putu Mountain, a key area with significant investment potential. According to the lawmaker, this project aims to attract both domestic and international investments, creating job opportunities for the youth in the district.

"I am working hard to ensure that our youth have viable employment options that will sustain them and uplift our community," Sokan added.

Further plans include the rehabilitation of major streets in Zwedru City. Sokan emphasized that the streets will be paved with asphalt, significantly improving the city’s infrastructure. This project is set to begin in 2025, marking a major milestone in urban development for the city.

Sokan also revealed that his efforts had resulted in a significant increase in the budgetary allotment for the Grand Gedeh Community College. Through his intervention, the college's funding was raised from Six Thousand United States Dollars to a substantial Eight Hundred Thousand United States Dollars, reflecting his commitment to improving educational opportunities for the district’s youth.

As Representative Sokan looks ahead to the new year, he is focused on continuing to deliver vital services and infrastructure to his constituents. With several key initiatives already in the pipeline, 2025 is shaping up to be a transformative year for Grand Gedeh District 1.
