LBA President Leads High-level Delegation to FIBA's Mid-term Congress in Bahrain

Monrovia, Liberia: The president of the Liberia Basketball Association (LBA), Abraham Samukai, is leading a two-member high-level delegation to the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA) 2025 Mid-term Congress in Bahrain.
The Bahrain Congress is expected to ignite discussion aimed at enhancing basketball across FIBA's 212 National Member Federation countries.
The FIBA's 2025 Mid-Term Congress, which is scheduled to commence from May 14 to 18, will bring together delegates from FIBA’s 212 National Member Federations to review strategic goals, particularly efforts aimed at empowering National Federations and promoting women’s participation in basketball.
The Liberian delegation, comprising President Abraham Samukai and Calvin Diggs, Secretary General, has departed Liberia for the prestigious event at which delegates will receive updates on FIBA’s global initiatives and developments since the last Congress held in Manila, Philippines, in 2023.
This marks the first time Bahrain will host the high-level basketball gathering, an effort made possible through a partnership with the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the Bahrain Basketball Association.
During the congress, delegates from 212 FIBA's National Member Federation countries are also expected to emphasize the implementation of the FIBA Plus programs, a financial aid initiative that supported 112 National Federations in 2024.
FIBA's member federations, including the Liberia Football Association, will hope to benefit from the Mid-term Congress, which aims to promote basketball growth globally.
Additionally, deliberations will focus on proposed amendments to the FIBA General Statutes and consider submissions from the Central Board and National Federations, ratification of decisions related to membership suspensions and expulsions, as well as the conferring of honorary titles such as Honorary President and Secretary General Emeritus.
The FIBA Mid-Term Congress 2025 serves as a vital platform for aligning FIBA’s "global strategy, addressing governance matters," and celebrating the achievements of individuals who have significantly shaped the game of basketball.
